Social Action Project

When looking at creating awareness, this was done by sending out letters to the community and by word of mouth. This was effective as a lot of girls showed up for the first training session. Allowing learners to inform their parents and for me as the student teacher to gather equipment was a great positive in the manner of creating awareness. When looking at educate, this was done by doing class visits during the teaching periods. This was effective as learners were constantly reminded on the training sessions and informing their parents. By informing the learners on the advantages of playing sports was a create way to promote and educate girls on soccer and sports.
When looking at unite, this was done through interacting with learners was effective as learners were able to ask questions and they would get the answer they are looking for and I could be there to clear any misunderstanding and doubt about playing soccer as a girl. When looking at parent and community involvement, a letter being sent out is a great way to get in touch with the community and parents of the learners’, as using technology is not as effective. Word of mouth was the better way to get parents involved and inform the community on what is needed to help the learners excel in the sports.
This has helped me and confirmed my love for the sports. This experience helped me in developing passion not only for the learners but for the love of sports as well. This experience has helped me see how sports can change one’s life and what positive impact it can have on not only the learners but the parents and community as well. See parents and community show up for the ladies opened my eyes in see how much the community wants their children to excel in sports and what they love.
Professionally it has showed me that I can impact learners’ lives not only in the classroom but in socialising and being able to teach learners something other than the curriculum showed me that a teacher is not only in the classroom but also in their daily lives. This project has helped me in developing how to teach learners outside of the classroom skills and knowledge that was not taught in the CAPS curriculum.
The creation of a girls' soccer team at the school offers numerous benefits, including improved physical health, enhanced academic performance, social development, and increased community engagement. By providing opportunities for physical activity, teamwork, leadership, and positive role modelling, the team can contribute to the overall well-being and success of students. To ensure the sustainability of the initiative, it is essential to have strong leadership, adequate resources, community involvement, student interest, and regular program evaluation. By addressing these factors, the school can create a thriving girls' soccer team that benefits students, the school community, and the broader community.

Really proud of this initiative of bringing Soccer to the school especially for girls it gives them a space to be themselves as well as it gives him a space after school to let out the energy and can actually help improve their academics in the classroom this initiative is so amazing and I am proud of you well done

Perfect way to engage learners outside of the classroom environment. This reflection teaches all educators that we can make a difference in our learners' lives outside of the classroom. Well done!
Excellent project. This seemed fun and very interactive.
